Caramoor is best known for its Summer Festival. The festival draws music lovers from NYC to the Catskills for thirty days and nights of classical, opera, American roots, jazz and cabaret music. The festival features performances in multiple venues spread across Caramoor’s 90 acre estate. Caramoor’s 1500 seat tented Venetian Theatre hosts the festival’s headline acts. Friends Field hosts Caramoor’s daylong Jazz and American Roots Festivals. Finally, up and coming and idiosyncratic acts appear at Caramoor’s Spanish Garden and the Sunken Garden.
The 170 seat Rosen House Music Room hosts Caramoor music from fall through spring. The Music Room’s collection of Renaissance furniture, Gothic tapestries and stained glass elements surrounds concert-goers. It is a spectacular place to hear music.
The Rosen House, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places is filled with examples of fine and decorative Asian and Renaissance art. The house offers a number of treasures. Caramoor is also an important patron of rising stars in classical music. Caramoor’s Schwab Rising Stars, Evnin Rising Stars and Ernst Steifel String Quarter-in-Residence programs are renowned in the classical music world. Each program concludes with concerts in The Rosen House Music Room. The low cost tickets are a great way to see up and coming stars in a local venue.
