“The Lady Eve”, Preston Sturges’ 1941 screwball comedy starring Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda, follows a father/daughter pair of card sharps who ply their trade on a luxury ocean liner, and target the handsome but nerdy heir to a brewery fortune as their next mark.
