Jacob Burns Film Center: Halloween Movie Marathon

Jacob Burns Film Center’s IX Annual Halloween Movie Marathon returns with 12 hours of dreams, nightmares and visions of terror. JBFC’s nightmare all-nighter begins with Chuck Russell’s 1987 A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors in 35mm. Other highlights from the evening into morn’s seven feature dreamscape includes Ken Russell’s psycho/hallucinogenic primal nightmare from 1980 Atered Stares starring William Hurt (also in 35 mm); Richard Kelly’s 2001 Donnie Darko (described by its director as “The Cather in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick) starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, Drew Barrymore and Katharine Ross; and Jess Francos 1971 gender/sexual orientation bending retelling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Vampyros Lesbos.
