Jacob Burns Film Center Jewish Film Festival: The Last Spy
Peter Sichel, born in 1922 into a wealthy German Jewish wine family, fled with them to the United States. Joining the army as soon as America enters the war, he was assigned to the newly created Office of Strategic Services, beginning an astonishing globe-trotting career as a master spy. At the age of 100, he sat down to tell his amazing story, taking us through the defeat of Germany, rescues at Dachau, the Cold War, the attempted overthrow of Indonesian president Sukarno, and incursions in Communist China.
