JBFC: Frederick Wiseman’s America— In Jackson Heights

Set in the neighborhood of Jackson Heights in Queens, New York—one of the most racially and ethically diverse communities in the United States—In Jackson Heights centers on the daily lives of the people in this community: from their businesses, community centers, and religious spaces, to their political, cultural and, social lives. The film also explores the conflict some residents of Jackson Heights feel between maintaining ties to the traditions of their countries of origin and the obligation they feel to learn and adapt to “American” ways and values.
